The Mi Remote app lets you control your Mi TV or Mi Box and a host of other electronic devices.
If you have a Mi Box or a Mi TV, you don’t need a specific remote to control it. Instead, you can turn any Android phone or tablet with an IR blaster into a remote by using this app. This app also isn’t limited to just Mi TV and Box. It can control a wide range of electronic devices, including Blu-ray players, audio-video receivers and even your air conditioner! More and more devices on the market are becoming smart, and there’s really no limit to what you can control with this app if that control is supported.
Mi Remote uses a minimalistic design, and the user interface is well-organized and easy to find your way around. It’s particularly impressive when you consider that entire sections of the UI are often auto-generated based on communication with the device being controller. If you have a smart thermostat, for instance, Mi Remote talks to it and builds the UI based on the features it provides through its smart interface.
For your home theater setup, you have many options. You can let your TV control everything and just have the app command the TV. On the other hand, you can let each device be controlled independently. The app is able to support practically all options, so it can change input sources, access device-specific menus and so forth, and if you get a call while watching TV or whatnot, you can handle that right from within the app. It can, for instance, automatically pause your movie when a call comes in.
